Zook the cat is ill. Oona and her five year old brother, Fred are worried about him as he stays in the Vet’s office. With their father dead, Fred has a difficult time dealing with the circumstances. To help him, Oona creates stories about Zook’s previous lives-with elements inspired by her late father. Worst of all Oona’s mom is hanging out and texting Dylan the villain, a known cat abuser. How will Oona save Zook, help her brother, and get rid of Dylan?

The characters in this book are realistically portrayed and are likable. The story is heartwarming and contains a wide arrange of emotions in this book will draw children of any age into its story. Readers who enjoy Jeanne Birdsall or who like or need a story about animals and loss will appreciate this book.
