Planet of the Lawn Gnomes (Goosebumps Most Wanted) by R.L. Stine –OPTIONAL

Stine, R.L. Planet of the Lawn Gnomes (Goosebumps Most Wanted) 160 pgs. Scholastic Paperbacks, 2012. $6.99.  Content: Language: G (0 swears);  Mature Content: G;  Violence: G.
Jay has a hot temper, a bit of a trouble-making streak, and a knack for getting into slightly too much mischief. That’s why they moved to a new town. Something in this new place isn't quite right and the lawn gnomes seem to be a big part of the weirdness. They are constantly appearing in new places, even when he just looks away for a moment. Jay must figure things out before he gets into too much trouble to get out of.
I was liking getting to know Jay. He is an interesting character since he is so mischievous –you wonder if you should feel sympathy or he is earning his just desserts. But the story takes some bizarre twists and turns that left me unable to stay on board with my enjoyment of the story. I think this one was a miss for this prolific author.
