Violet Mackerel's Brilliant Plot by Anna Branford - ADVISABLE

Branford, Anna Violet Mackerel's Brilliant Plot, 103 pgs.  Atheneum Books for Young Readers, 2010 (text) 2012 (illustrations by Elanna Allen).  $14.99.  Content: G;

Violet Mackerel is a little girl who thinks up big ways to accomplish her goals.  One of her most brilliant plots is hatched at the Saturday morning craft market where she helps her mother.  It all begins with the discovery of a small red button, but as Violet believes, big things start in small ways.

This is a charming and delightful easy read.  Violet is a lovely character with a heart of gold and an imagination without limits.  A great classroom read for younger grades, this book would also appeal to older elementary readers who enjoyed the Fancy Nancy series of picture books.
