Ollie’s dad is a travelling preacher, and travelling is all she knows until her family stops in the town of Binder and she meets Jimmy Koppel whose mother is in jail awaiting trial for murdering her husband. Now, their usual 3 day stay has become longer as Ollie and her dad try to work things out for Jimmy and heal an angry town.

This is my favorite book of the year! Themes of family, forgiveness, and tolerance are well written into this beautiful novel.  I would choose it to teach to 6th or 7th graders. A couple of scenes involving frogs are a little intense for elementary, but I highly recommend this read.
