The Frenzy by Francesca Block - ESSENTIAL

Block, Francesca Lia The Frenzy, 261 pgs. Harper Teen, 2010. $16.99. Language R (31 swears, 4 "F's"), Sexual Content PG; Violence PG-13;

When Liv was only thirteen, her parents brought home a deer they shot and something snapped inside of her. Not know what had just happened, Liv tried to hide her feelings and the change. But now everything is changing. There are others in the woods like her. Strange boys that change into wolves as well, along with their mother who seems to know Liv better than she knows herself. Now that she has stumbled onto the weird boys and their strange mother Liv's life changes. Now she can only feel like herself around her boyfriend Cory and in those dark and dangerous woods. But the woods are a dark place. Didn't your mother ever tell you to stay out of them? Watch out.

I felt like this story was a fresh new look on werewolves. I loved the accepting romance of Cory and Liv. I also enjoyed reading and relating to the struggle with her family members. This story was exciting! I stayed up way too late and finished it in only two nights. The story will bring you in and leave a few bite marks.

HS - ESSENTIAL (note swear count). Student Reviewer: Kylie Usher
