The Spy Princess by Sherwood Smith - OPTIONAL

Smith, Sherwood The Spy Princess, 386 p. Viking (Penguin), 2012.  $18.

Violence: PG.  Language: G; Mature Content: G.

Lady Lilah may only be 12, but she wants more than the palace walls surrounding her.  When she sneaks out one night to see how the people in town live, she finds way more than she ever bargained for.  The whole country is ripe for rebellion, and her own brother may be one of the major plotters.  But their Uncle the King will do whatever he has to in order to remain in power, even if that means destroy his niece and nephew and the entire country along with them.

Interesting that there are two majors books for children that deal with revolution – this title and Shannon Hale’s newest.  There is a touch of magic to help the outnumbered rebels.

EL, MS – OPTIONAL.   Cindy, Library Teacher
