LIttle Owl's Night by Divya Srinivasan-ESSENTIAL

Srinivasan, Divya. Little Owl’s Night, 32 pgs. Viking Juvenile, 2011.  $16.99.  Inside cover: “The sun sets.  The moon rises.  And Little Owl and his friends wake up! Hedgehog sniffs for mushrooms.  Skunk nibbles berries.  Frog croaks.  And Cricket sings.  So many wonderful sights and sounds.  How Little Owl loves the night forest!  And yet he’s just a little bit curious, too.  “Mama, tell me again how night ends.” But as she does, the sun begins to rise, and Little Owl falls fast asleep…”  We loved this book!  Not only is the owl the most adorable illustrated creature ever, but the entire book is full of fantastic illustrations that are warm and fun.  The story is tender, exciting, and informative.  This book could be used on a unit on night life/animals. It is a must for every classroom and home library!  Pre-K.  EL (K-3).  ESSENTIAL.  Reviewer: SL.
