Claire De Lune (Claire De Lune Novel 1) by Christine Johnson -OPTIONAL

Johnson, Christine Claire De Lune (Claire De Lune Novel 1), 368 pgs. Simon Pulse, 2011. $9.99. (Language-G, Violence-PG; Sexual Content-G.)
The news is full of werewolf attacks, and the scientists trying to stop them, and maybe even cure them. Perfect timing for 16 y.o. Claire to find out that she is herself is a werewolf. Shocked but intrigued, Claire finds out that balancing her human life and her new werewolf life can be tricky. Things start to escalate as she begins a romance with the son of the leading anti-werewolf scientist, the werewolf attacks continue, and her mother goes missing. Is there anything a new werewolf can do to help?
Despite the fairly linear and easily predictable plotline, which could result in a boring book, this book manages to be a simple, fun, and easy read. Students will love being able to multitask while they read it, and the content is mild and controversy free. Pick it up for your library if your werewolf/female power section is sparse.
