Where I Belong by Gwendolyn Heasley - ADVISABLE

Heasley, Gwendolyn Where I Belong, pgs. 304. Harper Teen, 2011. $8.99 Language- PG (14 swears, 0 "F" words) Mature Content- PG-13 'Riches-to-Rags' Corinne Corcoran is living in riches, she calls Manhattan home, she is heading off to an elite boarding school, & has multiple credit cards. But then her dad is laid off from his job and she is sent to live with her grandma & grandpa in Broken Spokes, Texas. Spokes is a little football-loving, cowboy-boot-wearing town. She is sent to a public school (the horror!) and has a new job shoveling manure. Corinne is pretty sure that she won't make it through the first month, but then she meets a new friend and starts falling for a guy. Then she starts to realize that this small town, country life might not be that bad after all. I really enjoyed this book because I have been both a city girl and a country girl. I love to see the transformation in Corinne and see her realize that it isn't all about the riches. I would mention this book to my friends and it will remain on my shelf of favorites. It is rated PG-13 for teen drinking. MS, HS -ADVISABLE Student Reviewer: CG
