The Painted Boy by Charles DeLint - ADVISABLE

De Lint, Charles The Painted Boy, 431 pages, the Penguin group, 2010, Language: PG13 (15-16 swears, 0 "F") sexual content: PG, Violence, G. Jay's family carries a heavy responsibility, as his grandmother always told him. Something about the spirit of the dragon. But Jay isn't sure if he believes in his supposed role as a guardian of the earth until a quest to "find himself" helps bring it out. He somehow gets himself tangled into a war between two Barrio gangs, and has to truly connect himself to all living things in the Barrio to help sort it out.  This book was really good, but the beginning of the book was extremely confusing to figure out. Aside from that, though, it was an awesome book and one I'd like to read again and again. MS, HS - ADVISABLE, student reviewer, BT
