How the Weather Works: A Hands-on Guide to Our Changing Climate by Dorion Christiane- ADVISABLE

Dorion, Christiane. Young, Beverley. How the Weather Works: A Hands-on Guide to Our Changing Climate (Explore the Earth), 20 page. Candlewick Press, 2011. $17.99.  Language-G; Violence-G; Sexual Content-G.  “Why do hurricanes happen? What is a tornado? Why does it snow? And are we really changing the climate? Find out in this hands-on exploration of the world’s scorching, stormy, sensational weather.”  This great book is full of pop-ups, tabs to pull, and flaps to lift.  In addition to regular text, there is a “torrent of fascinating facts about our planet’s climate.” It would be the perfect addition to unit on weather. There are a lot of details and small text, so reading to a large group might be difficult.  EL (K-3). EL. ADVISABLE.  Reviewer: SL.
