Pop-Up: Everything You Need to Create Your Own Pop-Up Book by Ruth Wickings. Illustrated by Frances Castle.

Wickings, Ruth. Castle, Frances. Pop-Up: Everything You Need to Create Your Own Pop-Up Book, 16 pgs. Candlewick; Pop edition, 2010. $19.99. Language-G. Sexual Content- G. Violence- G.

This book teaches you everything you need to know to create your own pop-up book. After following the straightforward directions, you can transform a two-dimensional image into a three-dimensional pop up. The pop up pages are detailed and take a lot of time to punch out the shapes and parts, some pages are a little confusing, but putting it all together, and seeing the finished product is very rewarding. My son carried around the book and showed his accomplishments to his father and siblings over and over! Younger children definitely need adult supervision, but older elementary kids could complete the pages on their own. A teacher could use this book in the classroom and have students team up to complete the pages together, and even teach communication skills along the way. We thought this was a great book and enjoyed not only learning, but spending quality time together!
