Extraordinary by Nancy Werlin

Werlin, Nancy Extraordinary, 393 p. Dial (Penguin), 2010.  $17.99.  Content: G

Phoebe and Mallory have been best friends since seventh grade, when a socially awkward Mallory first arrived at school and Phoebe defended her against her former mean girl friends.  Now juniors, Phoebe is entranced when Mallory’s long lost brother blows into town.  But deeper games are afoot.  Phoebe’s long ago ancestor made a deal with the Queen of Fairies and Phoebe is the fairies’ target to exact their revenge and save their tribe from extinction.  Werlin writes another beautiful book for those that love the long game and twisted tactics.  And a little bit of romance.  It is much more about discovering your own sense of worth, than it is about faeries or romance.
