Zen and Xander Undone by Amy Kathleen Ryan

Ryan, Amy Kathleen Zen and Xander Undone, pages 212. Houghton Mifflin, 2010. $16.00. Language-PG-13; Sexual Content-PG-13; Violence-PG-13; Athena (Zen) and Alexandra (Xander), 2 sisters each have their own way of coping with their mothers death. Zen starts fights, and Xander starts doing some pretty scary things. On special occasions the girls get letters from their mother, who wrote the letters as she was dying. They go on a journey across the country to figure out their mothers past. I thought the book was good in ways, but weird in others. I enjoyed the story line, but thought that the writer could have tried to write it better. It was a semi poor written book. Other than that I really enjoyed. MS, HS-ADVISABLE. Student Reviewer: K.B.
