Vampire High: Sophomore Year by Douglas Rees

Rees, Douglas Vampire High: Sophomore Year, 247 p. $16.99.  Content: G.  Cody Elliot barely managed to survive his freshman year at a school run for jenti (don’t call us vampires), but survive he did, and now he is hailed as a hero by the entire jenti community and his girlfriend is a jenti princess.  Sophomore year, however brings Cody’s cousin Turk (don’t call me Rachel), a brilliant artist with an ego larger than any movie star’s.  Chaos will ensue as Cody tries, in his own special way, to help Turk and help the jenti at the same time.  I have waited seven long years for a sequel to Rees’ first book about Cody – long enough that I have endured many other vampire books in the mean time.  If you think you are tired of vampires, PLEASE give these a chance.  The new covers are sure to help sell them – plus I know that the kids aren’t tired of vampires yet.  MS – ESSENTIAL.
