Portia's Exclusive and Confidential Rules on True Friendship by Anna Hays

Hays, Anna Portia's Exclusive and Confidential Rules on True Friendship, 209. Simon & Schuster, 2009. Language- G (0 swears, 0 "f"), Sexual Content- G; Violence- G; Portia, a student detective at Palmville Middle School, is stuck in the middle of two perplexing cases: One, trying to find her missing Dad, and two, discovering the reasons behind her new friend Misty Longfellow's stray animal-saving behavior. Her friend, Amy, doesn't like Portia hanging out with Misty, and Portia tries to retain her friendship and keep Misty's case at the same time. This book was a pleasant read, fun and mystifying: a mystery. I personally enjoyed how I felt like I WAS the character, fitting into their daily lives, instead of just looking through a window. I also liked the ending: everything is mostly resolved, but with a little cliffhanger. EL-ADVISABLE. Student Reviewer: A.W.
