The Name of the Tree by Celia Barker Lottridge

Lottridge, Celia Barker The Name of the Tree, illustrated by Ian Wallace. Groundwood, 1989 $16.95 Content G. PICTURE BOOK.  In the African desert a drought threatens the lives of many animals. Exploration leads them to a tree that will only give up its fruit when the name of the tree is spoken. Many animals try, but the least likely to save them is the one that is successful. Entertaining book that has a very unlikely ending; almost to the point of confusion. Some background information about Bantu folktales probably would be helpful since this is an adaptation of one.
