Ice by Sarah Beth Durst

Durst, Sarah Beth Ice, 308 p. McElderry, 2009. $16.99. Cassie, 18, has always lives at an arctic research station with her father. When she was little, she believed her grandmother’s story about her mother being the daughter of the North Wind, who was abducted by the Troll Queen because she wouldn’t marry the Polar Bear king. Now, of course, she knows better. That is, until the day she meets the Polar Bear king for herself and must become his bride if she wants to save her mother. Wow – another version of East of the Sun, West of the Moon – how can I resist! The links into our modern world make this another excellent look at the legend – now I can’t decide which is my favorite! MS, HS – ADVISABLE.
